The family and I went out for dinner at the local mexican restaurant last night. They were advertising a new beer, Landshark Lager. I’ve never seen that beer before so I tried one. It was sub-mediocre at best, even given my incredibly low standards for beer.

The previous new-to-me beer I tried was a few weeks ago: HopSlam from Bell’s Brewery in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Delicious and very strong. It probably has way too much hops for most people, and at about $14.00 a six pack it’s pretty pricey, but since it’s so deliciously hoppy and has about double the alcohol of most beers, that price seems about right. Bell’s site says it’s only available through February, so if you want to try it, get some soon.

Avoid the Landshark. Embrace the HopSlam.
